Genesis Roosendaal has a rich history that dates back to the twelfth and thirteenth centuries. In 1268 pops the name Rosedale for the first time in a deed. Traditionally made Roosendaal part of the Duchy of Brabant. In the Middle Ages there was a degree of prosperity, the emergence of the peat cutting. The peat served as a domestic fuel. There was a brisk trade. The turf was conducted via Roosendaal port to Holland, Zeeland, Flanders and Antwerp.
