President Declares National Cybersecurity Awareness Month
President Trump on Friday declared October 2018 as National Cybersecurity Awareness Month marking the 15th consecutive year of that designation. In a proclamation, the President said, “we acknowledge the danger that cyber threats pose to our economy and public infrastructure, and raise awareness about steps we can take to mitigate and prevent future attacks. As these threats have continued to increase year after year, my Administration remains committed to bolstering our Nation’s cyber defenses and strengthening our national security.” The President cited the Federal government’s extensive and ongoing work to improve government, critical infrastructure, and private sector cybersecurity but added “the government cannot secure cyberspace alone,” and called on citizens to adopt better security practices.
