The Flinders Shire has a population of approximately 1535, the majority of who live in the town of Hughenden. Hughenden is quite an important regional centre, with a health centre; doctor's surgery open 5.5 days/week; pharmacy; newsagents; electrical store; several hotels/motels, hairdressers, clothing stores, cafes and bakery. There is a State School to Year 12, a Catholic primary school, a kindergarten and a day care centre. There are two main food stores with some smaller convenience stores as well.

The Defense Digital Service (DDS) and HackerOne today announced the dispatch of DDS's 11th bug abundance program with HackerOne and the third with the U.S. Branch of the Army. Hack the Army 3.0 is a period bound, programmer controlled security test pointed toward surfacing weaknesses so they can be settled before they are abused by foes. The bug abundance program is available to both military and regular citizen members and will run from January 6, 2021 through February 17, 2021.
