Cyble Launches Defense Threat Intelligence Solution for Law Enforcement and Government Agencies

Cyble | November 08, 2021

Cyble, an AI-powered, Y Combinator-backed, cyber threat intelligence company that empowers organizations with darkweb & cybercrime monitoring, today announced the availability of its Law Enforcement Agency (LEA) and defense threat intelligence solution. This is aimed at specifically helping law enforcement and government agencies gather, analyze, and respond to the exposure of extremely sensitive information, enriched with Cyble’s SIGINT analysis and research, that may have implications for national security or geopolitical ramifications. In this regard, Cyble has been working with several law enforcement agencies across the world.

Over the past few years, organized cybercriminals and state-backed threat actors have been actively targeting critical national infrastructure. Recent examples of this include the ransomware attack on the Colonial Pipeline in the US, which threatened to knock out fuel supply to half of the country.

Countries worldwide have seen their governments and military networks being hacked and troves of sensitive data exfiltrated by state-backed and financially motivated adversaries. The threat here is two-fold. Threat Actors primarily target organizations designated as Critical Information Infrastructure (CII) such as power plants, nuclear installations, oil pipelines and refineries, telecom network providers, and transport networks.

Additionally, threat actors are also targeting the supply chain eco-system of these organizations, which typically comprise technology OEMs, contract manufacturers, strategic R&D partners, and IT service providers. These attacks are carried out with an explicit intent of espionage, sabotage, as well as intellectual property theft.

“As Cyble continues on its journey to empower more organizations with early threat intelligence, strategic collaborations like these play a key role. With an exponential increase in cyber-attacks as more organizations and agencies go digital, we aim to empower our government partners with advanced threat monitoring capabilities to provide expeditious intelligence which they can immediately act upon.”

Manish Chachada, Co-founder and COO of Cyble

Through Cyble Hawk, Cyble is now offering deep visibility into the darkweb and surface web to unearth attacks and discover sensitive information before it can be used to compromise state infrastructure, jeopardize national security, or cause diplomatic issues for governments.

Government agencies will now be empowered to hunt for and discover sensitive strategic information that could be used to avert financial fraud, detect sensitive or strategic data exposure, and deploy suitable countermeasures. Further details on the capabilities are available here.

“Cyble is excited to be collaborating with law enforcement and governmental agencies in helping them build a more resilient cyberspace presence, by empowering them with timely and actionable threat intelligence. As we expand our relationship to the government and LEA entities, we are thrilled to drive our research and intelligence capabilities to greater heights.”

Esri Provides Open Access to Critical Federal Geospatial Data

Esri | July 13, 2021

Esri, the worldwide leader in location intelligence, said today that it gives up access to dozens of high-priority, high-demand national data layers, referred to the government users as National Geospatial Data Assets, in cooperation with federal agencies (NGDA). This development is essential for national decision-making in sectors such as infrastructure development and disaster response. Cartographic boundary files and demographic data from the US Census Bureau are being made available, as are National Agriculture Imagery Program (NAIP) data from the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the National Inventory of Dams (NID) database, which the US Army Corps of Engineers manage. This new set of federal maps and applications is now available via ArcGIS Online. It contains approximately 75 national geospatial datasets on dams, bridges, federal public lands, runways, rail nodes, and more updated regularly from federal sources. Those looking for this information can access it through the web; no ArcGIS user license is required. Anyone can use, distribute, and modify the data with appropriate attribution under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license. These datasets will also be accessible as Esri REST services and Open Geospatial Consortium, Inc. (OGC) API Features for interoperability. Esri will also make the NGDA datasets available via a custom explorer app on the launch page. The commercial sector will profit from the increased availability of NGDA datasets. Big companies with assets and interests spread throughout the United States, such as major merchants and insurance companies and railroads and utilities, need data that crosses cities, states, and regions. Having high-quality national data on hand saves organizations the time and money to collect and analyze it. Esri's effort contributes to the broader vision of the Geospatial Data Act of 2018 (GDA), which aims to enable more individuals to utilize geospatial data and remove more barriers to interoperability. This is the company's second dataset made accessible to the public this year that does not need an ArcGIS license to view. In addition, Esri published the first-ever high-resolution (10-meter) global land-cover map for 2020 in June. The ArcGIS Living Atlas of the World offers these open data services, the world's most comprehensive collection of geographic information, including maps, applications, and data layers. Intel Wins US Government Project to Develop Leading-Edge Foundry Ecosystem

Intel | August 23, 2021

What’s New:The U.S. Department of Defense, through the NSTXL consortium-based S2MARTS OTA, has awarded Intel an agreement to provide commercial foundry services in the first phase of its multi-phase Rapid Assured Microelectronics Prototypes - Commercial (RAMP-C) program. The RAMP-C program was created to facilitate the use of a U.S.-based commercial semiconductor foundry ecosystem to fabricate the assured leading-edge custom and integrated circuits and commercial products required for critical Department of Defense systems. Intel Foundry Services, Intel’s dedicated foundry business launched this year, will lead the work. “One of the most profound lessons of the past year is the strategic importance of semiconductors, and the value to the United States of having a strong domestic semiconductor industry. Intel is the sole American company both designing and manufacturing logic semiconductors at the leading edge of technology. When we launched Intel Foundry Services earlier this year, we were excited to have the opportunity to make our capabilities available to a wider range of partners, including in the U.S. government, and it is great to see that potential being fulfilled through programs like RAMP-C.” – Pat Gelsinger, Intel CEO How It Works: Intel Foundry Services will partner with industry leaders, including IBM, Cadence, Synopsys and others, to support the U.S. government’s needs for designing and manufacturing assured integrated circuits by establishing and demonstrating a semiconductor IP ecosystem to develop and fabricate test chips on Intel 18A, Intel’s most advanced process technology. “The RAMP-C program will enable both commercial foundry customers and the Department of Defense to take advantage of Intel’s significant investments in leading-edge process technologies,” said Randhir Thakur, Intel Foundry Services president. “Along with our customers and ecosystem partners, including IBM, Cadence, Synopsys and others, we will help bolster the domestic semiconductor supply chain and ensure the United States maintains leadership in both R&D and advanced manufacturing. We look forward to a long-term collaboration with the U.S. government as we deliver RAMP-C program milestones.” Intel recently announced plans to become a major provider of U.S.-based capacity for foundry customers, including an investment of approximately $20 billion to build two new factories in Arizona. These fabs will provide committed capacity for foundry customers and support expanding requirements for Intel products. Why It’s Important: The U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) has recently sought to diversify its approach to securing advanced microprocessors by leveraging commercially available technologies developed by U.S. companies. Other than Intel, the majority of U.S.-based chip designers are fabless, which means they design and sell integrated circuits that are fabricated by contract manufacturers called foundries. Today, more than 80 percent of leading-edge manufacturing capacity is concentrated in Asia1, leaving the DOD with limited onshore access to foundry technology capable of meeting the country’s long-term needs for secure microelectronics. The RAMP-C program was created to facilitate the use of a commercially viable onshore foundry ecosystem that will ensure DOD access to leading-edge technology, while allowing the defense industrial base to leverage the benefits of high-volume semiconductor manufacturing and design infrastructure of commercial partners like Intel. About the Broader Efforts: The RAMP-C program is part of a larger initiative to strengthen government supply chain security and accelerate U.S. leadership across the full spectrum of integrated circuit design, manufacturing and packaging. In October 2020, DOD launched the RAMP program using the Advanced Commercial Capabilities Project Phase 1 Other Transaction Authority. RAMP advances and demonstrates commercial leading-edge physical “back-end” assured design methods that transform a high-level chip design into the complex, technology-specific polygon form that is required as input for the wafer fabrication process. Intel is a participant in this project. Last year, DOD also awarded Intel the second phase of its State-of-the-Art Heterogeneous Integration Prototype (SHIP) program. The SHIP program enables the U.S. government to access Intel’s U.S. advanced semiconductor packaging capabilities with the goal of developing new approaches toward measurably secure, heterogeneous integration and test of advanced packaging solutions. SHIP will develop the capability to use advanced commercial technology to package and test the integrated circuits designed in RAMP and fabricated through RAMP-C. About Intel Intel (Nasdaq: INTC) is an industry leader, creating world-changing technology that enables global progress and enriches lives. Inspired by Moore’s Law, we continuously work to advance the design and manufacturing of semiconductors to help address our customers’ greatest challenges. By embedding intelligence in the cloud, network, edge and every kind of computing device, we unleash the potential of data to transform business and society for the better.
