AT&T SD-WAN Partnership with Cisco Extends to Support Employee Mobility and US Federal Government Agencies

AT&T Communications | April 01, 2021

AT&T SD-WAN capabilities continue to expand and improve, with new Cisco features to enable remote employees and FISMA compliance with government departments, a federal information security standard. AT&T SD-WAN is being introduced in conjunction with Cisco's Teleworker solution, which provides SD-WAN features for workers operating from home. It enables businesses with remote employees to quickly and easily set up and manage a home office by utilizing the employee's existing home internet connection, and it layers on the full SD-WAN stack with a single piece of hardware. Employees will remain connected to enterprise-grade facilities without losing efficiency with this new teleworker solution. AT&T SD-WAN with Cisco – FISMA provides a high-performance, controlled, policy-based SD-WAN solution to public sector customers while following FISMA (Federal Information Security Modernization Act) requirements for handling system security and threats. Furthermore, AT&T SD-WAN with Cisco now provides customers with a co-managed alternative. Customers can now monitor and self-manage their business application policies while also relying on AT&T for managed service support for setup, error, and performance management. Why are these things important? "The workforce is evolving, and providing the right tools is important to a company – regardless of where the business is being conducted," says Will Eborall, AVP, Product Marketing Management for AT&T Business. "With these SD-WAN upgrades with Cisco, AT&T aims to develop its services to suit the demands of today's customers. As the largest SD-WAN supplier in North America and a leader in serving companies of all shapes and sizes, we provide businesses with the tools they need to not only manage their needs today but also plan for the future." "Teleworking or working from home is a move that can place additional strain on enterprise IT groups charged with allowing highly secure access to business-critical applications," said JL Valente, vice president of product management for Cisco's Enterprise Routing and SD-WAN. "Today's distributed workforce demands superior home office connectivity that allows them to operate from home as efficiently as they can in the office, with reliable connectivity, efficiency, and enterprise-grade security. AT&T SD-WAN with Cisco Teleworker satisfies these criteria by supplying staff with an office-like environment while maintaining business assets highly secure." What other details should I know? AT&T SD-WAN with Cisco Teleworker solution prioritizes business applications over non-business traffic. It's simple to set up with zero-touch provisioning, allowing staff to get up and running quickly, taking their corporate networks home, and providing the resources they need to operate securely. It provides workers with complete insight into the edge, as well as close real-time management. FISMA allows federal government agencies in the United States to create, register, and enforce an information security and safety policy. AT&T SD-WAN with Cisco - FISMA helps them to comply with these requirements while simultaneously digitally converting their wide area networks. This solution offers a highly efficient, stable controlled SD-WAN solution that enhances application efficiency over a range of connectivity options and speeds. AT&T continues to set the benchmark for network transformation for SD-WAN. About AT&T Communications AT&T Communications helps family, friends, and neighbors connect in meaningful ways every day. Cedric O, Minister for Digital Transition and Electronic Communications, announced that RED Technologies has been selected through its "DAT 5G" (Democratizing Access to 5G Technology) project to develop a cloud based 5G NR-U platform to provide industrial SMEs and mid-caps with low cost 5G connectivity using unlicensed spectrum. RED will offer a plug and play E2E 5G connectivity managed solution for private networks at a competitive cost. RED Technologies foresees the global application of the AFC including North America, Middle East and in Europe where discussions started last week in ECC's Working Group Frequency Management. The company has extensive experience in building innovative cloud-based solutions, and is already serving numerous customers in the US with its Spectrum Access System (SAS) for CBRS through a partnership with Amdocs. Moreover, RED Technologies is currently passing FCC certification to become an independent SAS administrator. RED Technologies will be present on the French Pavilion at the Mobile World Congress 2022 in Barcelona.
