U.S., Brazilian vice presidents discuss Venezuela pressure at White House

Reuters | April 09, 2019

U.S. Vice President Mike Pence met with his Brazilian counterpart Hamilton Mourao at the White House on Monday to discuss sanctions and diplomatic efforts aimed at increasing the pressure on Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro to exit. In his first-ever talks with Mourao, Pence aimed to encourage the former Brazilian general to use his experience and influence to urge Venezuelan military leaders - as well as China and Russia - to pull back on their support of Maduro, a White House official said. The United States and most other Western countries have backed Venezuelan opposition leader Juan Guaido, who declared himself interim president in January, arguing that Maduro’s 2018 re-election was illegitimate.

EPA Deploys FedRAMP-Authorized SaaS Platform, RelativityOne Government

Relativity | February 21, 2023

Relativity and Deloitte have recently announced that U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, EPA, has deployed the FedRAMP-authorized SaaS platform of Relativity called RelativityOne Government, as a cloud-based solution for Freedom of Information Act, FOIA, requests. Relativity, a technological solutions provider for the legal sector, with Deloitte's litigation support and e-discovery services, helps the agency migrate to the RelativityOne Government platform. This migration will offer solutions related to flexibility, security, and extensibility of the cloud-driven data discovery product to the EPA, with the support of artificial intelligence. The EPA has to process huge volumes of FOIA requests every year. This solution would assist EPA with the volume of FOIA requests, accelerating the processing speed and flexibility. It will handle litigation and investigation of the requests' varying sizes accurately without any tension of cybersecurity. It creates a repeatable and consistent approach to the problem, offering cost-effective, secure, and efficient output in the agency's processes. Managing Director of Government Sales at Relativity, Doug Cowan, said, "Our advanced AI capabilities empower teams at the EPA to spend less time combing through mountains of data and more time collaborating and gleaning insights from analytics." He added, "The EPA is able to use the information to guide courses of action for their litigation matters or FOIA requests, which is additive to the litigation and e-discovery matters in which they were already leveraging RelativityOne Government. We look forward to seeing what the EPA will accomplish with a platform built exclusively for the cloud, and hope that it encourages other U.S. government agencies that are contemplating the use of SaaS solutions for their e-discovery work."
