The New Overtime Rule and Working Women: By the Numbers

In May of 2016, the U.S. Department of Labor extended overtime pay protection to over 4 million executive, administrative, and professional workers by publishing a long-awaited update to the regulations determining which white collar salaried employees are entitled to overtime protections, effective December 1, 2016. The rule updates the salary level required for exemption to ensure that the Fair Labor Standards Act’s intended overtime protections are fully implemented and to simplify the identification of overtime-protected employees.
