Understand the New U.S. Travel Rules on Cuba

U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for Western Hemisphere Affairs Roberta Jacobson traveled to Cuba January 21 to launch talks to reestablish diplomatic ties between the United States and Cuba. The visit comes after President Barack Obama’s December 17 announcement to normalize relations between the two countries, as well as the Treasury Department’s January 15 release of new rules on travel and trade.
