House GOP: Congress must reclaim its powers
Congress has yielded too much of its power to a federal bureaucracy that’s unaccountable to voters and enabled by deferential courts, House Republicans said Thursday in a plan that seeks to reclaim the legislature’s power of the purse and force the executive branch to explain its actions.
The fourth plank in a six-part agenda, the GOP proposal on the Constitution says Congress must have the final say over how taxpayer money is spent and prod agencies to “fess up” if they fail to enforce existing laws.
