When Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders ran for president in 2016, the democratic socialist pledged to fight for single-payer health care, campaign finance reform and a $15 minimum wage. These are now signature issues for progressive candidates across the country. But at the state level, several of the many newly elected lawmakers backed by the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) is also focused on another issue housing.
