NACCHO Government Affairs Update: What to Watch For in 2018

Over the past two years, state and local governments have seen a historic influx of federal funding. From the CARES Act and American Rescue Plan Act to the Investment in Infrastructure and Jobs Act and the recently passed Inflation Reduction Act, billions of federal dollars hold the potential to create long-term progress in state and local governments across the country. The biggest target of these federal dollars is infrastructure. Between crumbling roads and strained public transit systems, the nation’s infrastructure needs thoughtful investment.

This webinar provides insight into the professional and technical writing skills that are needed by geoscience students pursuing careers in state government agencies. Speakers will discuss skills that are developed during students’ undergraduate and graduate academic training, types of written products that are developed by geoscientists in state agencies, training and professional development opportunities for improving and expanding writing skills, and advice for students on how to acquire the needed writing skills as they prepare for and pursue their career path.
