FCW Summit: Cloud

April 6, 2022 | USA

The federal government’s move to cloud technology is now more than a decade old. Spurred by modernization efforts and accelerated by the pandemic’s push to remote work, agencies invested in cloud technology at a record rate, which allowed them to provide higher value services faster and cheaper. As agencies move into the next stage, they are wrestling with decisions on scoping their cloud needs, hybrid or multi-cloud environments, as-a-service options, privacy and data security. They must choose acquisition and deployment strategies and ensure adequate staffing Additionally, as cloud computing has evolved, so has pressure to secure the network, as cyber threats become increasingly aggressive and potent. Zero trust environments are now the default for federal networks, which are a larger attack surface as remote work continues. The 2022 FCW Cloud Summit will explore how agencies have effectively managed cloud migrations to leverage new services for cloud-native mission support, as well as how to accommodate and capitalize on new technologies such as 5G, artificial intelligence and machine learning. It will also provide a look ahead to GSA’s plan to offer cloud services through blanket purchase agreements.

FCW Workshop: Health IT Modernization

April 13, 2022 | USA

Information Technologies that support health care missions and capabilities have never been more critical, as local, state and federal health organizations continue to battle a shifting worldwide pandemic. The ability to share health information across platforms and among healthcare providers is a crucial part of health care organizations’ missions. Data has become the lifeblood of health care, from tracking cases, to vaccine and treatment distribution, as well as initiatives to distribute test kits and personal protection gear across the U.S. IT also supports more effective everyday health care applications including user-centered design that allows more efficient interaction with doctors, getting appointments for treatments or vaccines and arranging telehealth appointments for standard healthcare. Even with the advances of health care dashboards, interactivity and data sharing, cybersecurity risks have accelerated, as attack surfaces have expanded endpoints with remote and work-from-home workforces. Hackers, particularly ransomware criminals, have continued to focus their attacks on the health care industry, finding they can reap rewards from healthcare organizations that can’t afford to lose their networks and data. Emerging technology, such as AI and machine learning, are helping cut through the enormous amount of data and provide information needed to improve protection and identify attack sources. Join us for this workshop to explore the ways IT, emerging tech and data analytics are working to improve the government response to COVID-19 and other health challenges.
