For over a decade, local councils have faced funding cuts from central government while encountering an increased demand for vital services. According to the National Audit Office, since 2010 there’s been a real term fall of 26% in the spending power of councils, this has only intensified in recent years due to the financial strain of the Covid-19 pandemic and cost of living crisis.

Middle east undeniably has undergone a huge digital paradigm shift due to the striking technological disruption across the government authorities with the enormous data produced. There has been tremendous acceptance of digital data across these authorities which has resulted in improving the life of the citizens in the region. Many countries in the middle east have also introduced policies to encourage data sharing by making data and digital technologies as the most important pillar for their future vision and strategies. This has a market opportunity of 255$ billion with captalisation on advancement of digital maturity across the region.
Despite the huge shift, MENA region is yet to explore more opportunities to meet global standards in the areas of data sharing, open data platform, transparency, security, and monetising of data.
