CalPERS Recognized as Sustainability Leader
CalPERS | September 08, 2016
SACRAMENTO, CA - The California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS) has been recognized for reducing its enterprise-wide greenhouse gas emissions by 79 percent, exceeding the Governor's mandated 20 percent reduction by nearly four times over, and eight years ahead of schedule. The recognition was made by the Environmental Protection Agency's Climate Registry.
Compared to other California state agencies, CalPERS had the highest reduction in entity-wide greenhouse gas emissions. "We are certainly proud to receive this recognition from the Climate Registry," said Douglas Hoffner, CalPERS' Interim Chief Executive Officer. "The honor belongs to everyone here at CalPERS, who made this and other conservation measures a top priority."Read the Green Building Accomplishments and Initiatives (PDF) report to learn more about CalPERS' broad sustainability efforts.
