CITY ENSURES RESIDENT SAFETY THROUGH BUILDING ABATEMENT PROGRAM

As a part of efforts to clean up Pearland and ensure the safety of residents in several areas around town, the City has moved forward with its Substandard and Vacant Building Abatement Program which aims to remove or improve dilapidated and unsafe properties.

The Substandard and Vacant Building Abatement Ordinance, adopted in November 2015, has helped the City take action on properties initially identified to be substandard and/or unsafe. As part of the program, some properties have been demolished through voluntary compliance, others are being repaired through the Housing Enforcement & Rehabilitation Opportunities (HERO) program, some are undergoing abatement hearings.
