EnviroSpark Awarded Federal Contract to Serve $500 Million EV Infrastructure Rollout

EnviroSpark | October 11, 2022

The Georgia-based electric vehicle (EV) charging company EnviroSpark was awarded a federal government contract to design and install EV charging stations at locations run by federal agencies throughout the Southeast region of the United States. The contract, which includes a $500 million dollar budget ceiling for the region, came from the General Services Administration (GSA) amid a nationwide push for expanded EV infrastructure. EnviroSpark earned the highest technical ranking among the 10 small business vendors awarded contracts in the region, which includes 13 states and Puerto Rico. Additionally, EnviroSpark is the only selected vendor that received the overall technical ranking of "excellent," due to their extensive prior experience and past performance on relevant projects. EnviroSpark is also the only vendor selected in the southeast whose business specialization is exclusively focused on building and installing EV infrastructure. "It is an honor to be selected to serve on such an important and high-profile project, Being named the highest-rated company among all the applicants is truly a testament to all of the hard work and dedication the EnviroSpark team has put in over the last 8 years, and I couldn't be prouder of them." -Aaron Luque Co-founder and CEO, EnviroSpark. As part of GSA's "one-stop shop" initiative to support the transition of the federal fleet to a 100 percent zero-emission vehicle fleet, GSA established the government-wide Design/Build and Construction Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contracts to support Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE) installation and related infrastructure improvements at federal locations nationwide. "We are thrilled to be part of this federal push for improved EV infrastructure in the region and country, In order to increase EV adoption rates and reap the benefits of lower carbon emissions, we must first build out charging infrastructure. EnviroSpark is committed to that mission, and we are proud to be partnering with the GSA to bring EV access to federal agencies." -Stephanie Luque Co-founder and Chief Government Affairs Officer, EnviroSpark. The GSA contracts are designed to be innovative, flexible and easy to use. Services under these IDIQ contracts include: Electric vehicle supply equipment installation Feasibility studies and site assessments Construction and design-build services Utility company coordination Electrical infrastructure upgrades (e.g., switchgear, transformers, etc.) Site work services (e.g., trenching, bollards, signage, pavement markings, etc.) Equipment testing and commissioning As a selected contractor, EnviroSpark, who specializes in turnkey EV solutions, will conduct a host of studies, tests and inspections to design, construct, and implement infrastructure improvements and install charging stations at federal agency locations across the region. To date, EnviroSpark is responsible for more than 5,500 charging ports for customers such as Georgia Power, Tesla and Electrify America in addition to partnering with government entities such as cities and municipalities, but this marks the organization's first federal contract. About EnviroSpark: Founded in 2014, EnviroSpark is an industry leader in the turnkey design, installation, and operation of EV charging solutions. The company was founded with two missions: to raise awareness of the benefits of electric vehicles and to increase the availability of EV charging infrastructure. The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) has awarded Inca Digital's government contracting division, Inca Digital Federal, a Phase II Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) contract to research advanced methods for analyzing activity related to financial applications of distributed ledgers in a project called: "Mapping the Impact of Digital Financial Assets". The aim of the SBIR is to understand and visualize how digital assets implicate national security. "Digital asset markets hold amazing promise, but also contend with money laundering, market manipulation, and state actors that may pose risks to U.S. national security, Given the increasing prevalence of digital assets, the Department of Defense and other federal agencies need to have better tools to understand how digital assets operate and how to leverage their jurisdictional authority over digital asset markets globally." -Adam Zarazinski, CEO of Inca Digital. As a result of this SBIR, Inca Digital Federal will develop a first-of-its-kind cryptocurrency ecosystem mapping tool for analyzing cross-market crypto-financial data and risk. The data analytics from Inca Digital will allow both the United States government and commercial companies to: Perform cross-market, crypto-financial mapping and analysis Understand relationships between digital asset firms and non-digital asset entities Identify how cryptocurrency may affect traditional financial systems and vice-versa Provide insight into the use of blockchain-based technologies linked to money laundering, terrorist financing, and sanctions evasions across systems (e.g., fiat-to-exchange, exchange-to-blockchain, and cross-blockchain transactions) Better understand money flows in and out of blockchain systems Identify where recipients of cryptocurrency can exchange it for local fiat currency, or goods and services, globally Understand how cryptocurrencies are used in different U.S. government/Department of Defense areas of responsibility This research is being developed by funding from the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). The views, opinions and/or findings expressed are those of the author and should not be interpreted as representing the official views or policies of the Department of Defense or the U.S. Government. NanoGraf Wins Contract from U.S. Government to Develop First Large-Volume Advanced Silicon Anode Manufacturing Facility in the U.S.

NanoGraf | December 01, 2022

NanoGraf, an advanced battery material company and enabler of the world’s most energy dense 18650 lithium-ion cell, today announced a contract award from the U.S. Government. The contract will fund the onshore manufacturing of high-performance silicon anode materials as the first large-volume silicon oxide manufacturing facility in the U.S. At peak production, NanoGraf will produce 35 T/Y, enough material to provide enhanced power for various battery applications. The U.S. faces unprecedented battery market demand and a highly problematic supply chain, resulting in an increased need for the onshoring of battery manufacturing facilities. In awarding NanoGraf this production contract, the U.S. Government is taking an important step towards a strong supply chain by scaling material production of the world’s most energy dense 3.8Ah 18650 cylindrical lithium-ion cell, at 800 watt-hours per liter (Wh/L), which was announced in 2021. “NanoGraf’s twin mission is to continually improve battery performance and to be a great partner for our customers across sectors, including government, automotive, and consumer electronics, This contract ensures continued improvements in battery performance and a more reliable supply chain as we bring our silicon-anode technology to scale.” -Connor Hund, Chief Operating Officer. The 18-month contract complements NanoGraf’s existing domestic material production strategy and the company’s additional plans to support the electric vehicle market by 2024. NanoGraf will produce 35 tons of silicon anode material per year as the company scales to 1,000 tons per year to support the EV market. With NanoGraf’s proprietary silicon oxide material design, material prices will be on par with the cost of lower-performance graphite anodes. The contract announcement comes on the heels of NanoGraf’s setting the new industry benchmark for the most energy dense lithium-ion 18650 battery. The next-generation cell will increase the energy density of batteries by over 20%, considerably lightening the load for users. Illinois is poised to become a leader in the electric vehicle revolution, thanks to leaders in our state like NanoGraf. With its groundbreaking research and production of light-weight, energy dense batteries, NanoGraf is helping define the next generation of consumer and military vehicles, said Senator Dick Durbin. I’m pleased to see the Department of Defense recognize the value in supporting NanoGraf’s mission, which will improve our military readiness and have immeasurable applications across industry. About NanoGraf: NanoGraf is an advanced battery material company whose patented silicon-anode technology enables longer-lasting, higher-energy, and higher-power lithium-ion batteries. NanoGraf works with more than 50 companies, including some of the world’s leading consumer electronics, household appliance, and power tool brands, and over 12 strategic partners in electric mobility (from startups to Fortune 100s). NanoGraf is a spinout of Northwestern University and Argonne National Laboratory.

Healthera receives funding from Government-backed Innovate UK to tackle critical challenges in the UK pharmacy sector

Healthera | December 02, 2022

Healthera, Cambridge-based digital health platform, today announces that it has been awarded funding from Innovate UK to develop the next generation of innovative patient-pharmacy healthcare platform. Following a rigorous process, and for the 3rd time since 2017, Healthera has been awarded funding from Innovate UK. Healthera has been offered an innovation loan of up to £500,000 to support its ongoing innovation in the community pharmacy and consumer medicine sector throughout the United Kingdom. Innovate UK, the UK's innovation agency sponsored by the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, actively supports game-changing and commercially viable R&D projects that can significantly impact the UK economy. About the Project Utilising this new funding and with a strong leadership team with first hand experience in the industry, Healthera is addressing three critical opportunities to 'future-proof' UK pharmacies in this age of rapid digitalisation and growing consumer expectation: Enabling private treatments to be provided by local pharmacies digitally - ensuring safe and local clinical care for millions of patients with conditions like erectile dysfunction and hair loss. Improving medication adherence and access to repeat medication through a combination of smart algorithms, analytics tools, and targeted pharmacist support. Improving speed and accessibility of local delivery for medicines from the largest digital network of pharmacies in the UK. Healthera will leverage its network of over 1500 pharmacies, its current platform and infrastructure, and the clinical training of pharmacists on the platform to help more patients get access to private treatments for conditions that are often left untreated. This will allow local pharmacies to be a part of the rapidly growing sector that was previously only available to online doctors. Innovation from the project also aims to provide accessible delivery options for areas of the UK that do not currently have access to local medicine delivery – and continuing Healthera's original mission to improve adherence of medicines, reduce medicine wastage and spearhead the growth of pharmacy revenue – all this at a time when central funding and revenue channels are being limited for the community pharmacy. "This is an important step in our mission of becoming the go-to health hub for patients. As the market leaders for digitally transforming the pharmacy landscape, we're excited to receive support from Innovate UK to expedite this total innovation and truly future-proof the UK's vital community pharmacy industry." -Quintus Liu, CEO of Healthera. Andrew Bellingham, Director of Product and Strategy at Healthera commented, The pharmacy sector, which I've worked in for 20 years, is well-prepared to enhance their efficiencies, expand to more healthcare verticals, and reach more patients outside of their local vicinity through adopting digital technology. We've identified these opportunities and market gaps and are thrilled to be delivering the support that our invaluable community pharmacies deserve. "We're pleased to offer an innovation loan to Healthera to support the team on their mission to improve the delivery of healthcare through local pharmacies, a large market that is critical for the health of the nation and one that is now becoming ready to be further enhanced through digital innovation. The industry has huge potential for growth and it's important that an innovative platform like Healthera continues to push boundaries." -Scott O'Brien, Director of Innovation Finance at Innovate UK. About Healthera: Founded out of Cambridge University, Healthera operates a market leading healthcare platform that provides patients with medicines, healthcare services and products through the largest digital network of pharmacies in the UK, including over 1,500 pharmacies from large national chains and independent providers. About Innovate UK: Innovate UK is part of UK Research and Innovation, a non-departmental public body funded by grant-in-aid from the UK government. Innovate UK drives productivity and economic growth by supporting businesses to develop and realise the potential of new ideas, including those from the UK's world-class research base.
