Huawei Willing To Sign 'No-Spy Agreement' With UK Government
Huawei has been in the spotlight in Britain recently after its Defense Secretary was fired for reportedly leaking information to The Telegraph about Prime Minister Theresa May's plans to stop Huawei from supplying core 5G equipment to British telecom services. Now, in a bid to appease critics who say it could be pressured by the Chinese government to spy, Huawei is offering to sign a "no-spy agreement" with the UK government, according to The Guardian. Huawei Chair Liang Hua argues that connections between Chinese companies and Chinese intelligence services are exaggerated, so this "no-spy" deal should ease concerns about backdoors and spying on UK networks, the Guardian reports.
