LGBT language helps sink energy bill
WASHINGTON — After a convoluted late-night dance that allowed Democrats to add gay rights protections to an energy spending bill, Republicans and Democrats voted together to kill the underlying bill.
It was yet another stumble on the House floor on a bill that was not expected to be this controversial, and it will send House leaders back to the drawing board to resurrect the bill that funds a broad array of energy and water programs.
