Veterans Day Ceremony to Feature Rockville Resident and Army Reservist

Rockville, Maryland, Nov. 2 – A Rockville veteran of the United States Marine Corps who now serves in the U.S. Army Reserve will be the featured speaker as the city honors veterans of our nation’s armed forces at 11 a.m. on Veterans Day, Friday, Nov. 11. The ceremony, which is open to the public, will be held at Veterans Park, at the intersection of Route 28 and Rockville Pike. It will include a wreath laying and a military salute by the American Legion Post 86 Honor Guard.  Free parking for the ceremony will be available at the Sandy Spring Bank building, 611 Rockville Pike, between Fleet Street and Rockville Pike. This year’s featured speaker is Command Sgt. Maj. Ross Bagwell, whose military career began when he enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1987. He served eight years in the Marines, 10 years in the Army National Guard and is in his 12th year in the Army Reserve, serving in the 2nd Battalion, 317th Regiment, a drill sergeant battalion in Lynchburg, Virginia.
