Anti-fraud Public Service Announcement (60-seconds)

As the March 1, 2013, deadline for federal benefits recipients of the switch to all-electronic federal benefits draws near, scammers are taking advantage of the need to switch to direct deposit and increasingly convincing seniors and others to provide personal information through phone solicitations. The Treasury Department in partnership with the Social Security Administration and Veterans Affairs has taken the lead in educating the public on how to avoid being the victim of federal benefit payment fraud through this 60-second public service announcement video. This anti-fraud video is directed at senior citizens, but applies broadly to anyone who might be easily tempted to give out personal information to a fraudster.
