EPA Ozone Standards Protect Public Health

EPA’s National Ambient Air Quality Standards for ground-level ozone is based on extensive scientific evidence about ozone’s effects on public health and welfare. The standard will improve public health protection, particularly for children, the elderly, and people of all ages who have lung diseases such as asthma. History shows that we do not have to choose between a healthy environment and a healthy economy: for more than four decades, EPA and state, tribal and local air agencies have improved air quality by nearly 70 percent, while our economy has more than tripled.
