Mayor’s Council on Police-Community Relations (CPCR) Oct. 18, 2016

As her Council on Police-Community Relations met Tuesday for the second time, Mayor Ivy Taylor called on participants to be part of the process for the “long haul” so the city has policies in place that ensure officers and community members both get justice when confrontations between them occur. “This is not something where six months from now we’re going to have it solved and we’re going to be finished,” Taylor said, adding she wanted everyone in the room to help her identify gaps in police department policies and implored participants to roll up their sleeves and get to work, noting a couple of people who left after speaking. This is not just a show, she said.
