Council Council Savings Programme

The council savings programme is our response to national austerity measures and the sharp fall in the amount of grant funding we receive from central government. The fall in grants is happening at the same time as rising pressure on our budgets. We have an ageing population, for example, and will need to spend more on services for the elderly in the coming years. We have already saved nearly £43m mainly through efficiency measures but we are now looking to save a further£40mby 2020.
