CONGRESS SENDS TRUMP A BILL PROMOTING EVIDENCE-BASED POLICYMAKING
In one of its last acts affecting the education sphere, the outgoing 115th Congress approved a bill designed to promote the better use of federal data, research, and evaluations when the policy is being made. On Dec. 21, federal lawmakers sent the Foundations for Evidenced-Based Policymaking Act of 2017 to President Donald Trump. The legislation would require each federal agency to set up a chief data officer, who would be responsible for managing the agency's data assets and promoting how best to use them.
