2016 Tech Employment Report by Region

2015 was a year of slight fluctuation, both in terms of the year-over-year changes in unemployment rates across the country and with updates to long-term employment projections. The latest figures from the Department of Labor’s annual report show continued progress in unemployment reduction from 2014 to 2015, with 47 states and the District of Columbia seeing modest to significant drops in average unemployment rates. By the tail end of the 2015, the national average for unemployment had dropped to 5.3 percent, and more recent data January 2016 show a further decrease with rates currently at 4.9 percent.
