A digital workplace enables next-generation public service experiences

May 15, 2022

A Digital workplace whitepaper
Long before the pandemic created a worldwide retreat from physical workplaces, governments around the world recognised the need to undertake a digital transformation of some kind. Many governments had started to build transformation strategies
that would support the gradual adoption of digital technologies to improve efficiency, increase productivity and enable better resource management. The main goal behind these strategies was to create the next generation digital infrastructure that would
improve the delivery of services to citizens, from personalised administrative services to tailored health services, safer care for all and customised education. Some governments had started the transformation process. Then the pandemic changed everything.

Almost overnight, governments were forced into a new reality that didn’t fit with mid- and long-term digital transformation objectives. Shutdowns changed the world from a largely in-person experience to a virtual experience for government workers and citizens. Government workforces had to quickly move entirely to remote working and governments had to adapt to find new ways to deliver services to citizens. Luckily, the availability of digital  tools made the shift possible. So, while the pandemic continued to impact society, governments at all levels were able to shift operations and service delivery online.

Compliance with Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Publication 1075

whitePaper | June 26, 2022

The United States Internal Revenue Service’s (IRS) goal is to promote taxpayer confidence in the integrity of the tax system by ensuring confidentiality of the tax information provided to the federal, state and local agencies. The IRS 1075 publication provides guidance to agencies, agents, contractors and subcontractors on implementing adequate policies, processes, controls and safeguards to protect Federal tax information (FTI). The IRS 1075 requirements follow the FedRAMP and NIST 800-53 Rev.5 guidelines. Agencies that receive FTI must ensure that they have adequate programs in place to protect the data received in line with IRS 1075 guidelines. VMware Cloud on AWS GovCloud (US) has been authorized against the FedRAMP High baseline controls and therefore can support agencies in meeting the IRS 1075 requirements.

Delivering Government Solutions in the 21st Century Organization Design Principles and Recommendations

whitePaper | January 21, 2020

When America’s Founders wrote the Constitution, they laid out a clear vision for the United States Government: to establish justice, ensure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty. Moreover, they established Executive Branch organizations and structures to deliver on the Federal mission in ways appropriate to America’s needs at the time. Over successive generations, our Federal Government has evolved by expanding in scope and complexity to try to meet Americans’ needs. However, the organizational structures that underpin the Executive Branch have not always kept pace.

Open Public Services White Paper

whitePaper | July 1, 2022

We believe that more open public services can benefit everybody in the UK and that finding ways to deliver better services for less money is a challenge that is common to all four nations of the UK. The scope of this paper is UK wide, but in devolved areas of policy it is for the devolved administrations to determine their own approach to public service reform. The three devolution settlements in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are all different although, in general, services such as health, education and those provided by local government are under devolved control. If you live or work in any of the devolved territories and are in any doubt as to which of these reforms would apply there, the relevant territorial office will be able to advise you. We are committed to working in partnership with the devolved administrations to share good practice and to explore whether our approach would suit their particular circumstances and need.

WHY MACHINE LEARNING IS THE FUTURE OF PREDICTIVE & INDUSTRIAL MAINTENANCE

whitePaper | June 30, 2020

There’s no arguing that preventing failures and accidents is critical for industry. Unexpected incidents can grind operations to a halt for extended periods of time and necessitate expensive repairs. For example, just 12 hours of downtime for an oil production platform could cost six to eight million dollars in lost production opportunity alone. A single day of grounding for a plane costs roughly four to five million dollars. Because of these disruptions, industrial sectors are always on the lookout for newer, better maintenance methods, and the approach on everyone’s lips right now is predictive maintenance.

2020 Global & Regional Corporate Governance Trends

whitePaper | January 11, 2020

For the first time, in 2020, we see the focus on the “E” and the “S” of environment, social and governance (ESG) as the leading trend globally, including in the United States, where it traditionally has not received as much attention by boards. Indeed, many of the key global trends for 2020, such as board oversight of human capital management (HCM), can be seen as subsets of ESG.
