Real Time Public Land Inventories & Revenue Tracking

November 6, 2017

How many national, provincial, or state governments in the world today could at a minutes’ notice tally how much land is publically managed under their authority? How many governments could accurately share the aggregate total sum of proceeds for that month or even calendar year from all public lands generating revenues from a lease, easement, or concession (mineral or forest as concession examples)? Inventory management and revenue management these are two critical challenges that governments the world over are challenged with. This is not a developed or emerging nations challenge either, as these are critical issues with which all governments universally grapple. The difference, however, is in the severity of data gaps from one country to another to efficiently manage inventories and revenues. Take the United States as an illustrative example. The U.S. Federal Government manages an estimated 25% of all lands while U.S. States manage an additional 9% of all lands.

whitePaper | March 30, 2022
