Cook County’s Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management (DHSEM) is partnering with government agencies, nonprofits and private sector organizations to ensure residents have the information they need to stay safe in an emergency – whether manmade or natural. As part of National Preparedness Month, the DHSEM is hosting a preparedness fair at Daley Plaza. Residents will receive safety information from all participating agencies, take part in safety trainings and see the kinds of tools the DHSEM and other agencies use to help residents during emergencies. The DHSEM will display some of its rescue vehicles on the plaza. The DHSEM will also promote the “If You See Something, Say Something” anti-terrorism campaign.
