Direct Federal Financial Interventions and Subsidies in Energy in Fiscal Year 2016

This report an update based on Fiscal Year (FY) 2016 data and earlier EIA reports on direct federal financial interventions and subsidies in energy markets continues a series of U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) reports1 that began in response to congressional requests. More recently, the Secretary of Energy requested updated information as part of the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Grid Resiliency Study.

The St. John's Port Authority

The St. John's Port Authority, which manages and promotes the Port of St. John's, is an autonomous Federal agency created in 1999 pursuant to the Canada Marine Act. The Authority is governed by a board of directors comprised of four representatives nominated in consultation with port users, as well as one representative appointed by each of the Government of Canada, the Province of Newfoundland & Labrador, and the City of St. John's. A Chief Executive Officer and a management group are responsible for port operations. The Authority is financially self-sufficient, operates with full commercial discipline, and reinvests all earnings generated from activities into port infrastructure.
